Teach for Nepal is a movement of outstanding university graduates and young professionals who are committed to end education inequity in Nepal starting with two years of fellowship teaching in public schools.

Teach For Nepal fellowship is a two year long, full-time paid employment opportunity. During the two years, Fellows teach in public schools and bring about academic achievement and transformative impact in their students. At the same time, they harness their leadership skills through the teaching experience and intensive development training and support

Reports to: CEO
Job Purpose: To lead development and execution of strategic communication plan to create strong brand awareness of Teach For Nepal among its stakeholders

Key Responsibilities:

Primarily responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Develop and implement strategic communications plan to create and strengthen TFN’s brand identity across key stakeholders.
  • Create marketing/public relations strategy, which will allow TFN’s leadership team to cultivate meaningful relationships with key stakeholders such as media, government officials, and partners
  • Work with the board, staff, and TFN Fellows to recognize internal and external communications opportunities and execute appropriate strategies to support them
  • Produce & edit all copy intended for external distributions to ensure that it aligns with strategic communication plan
  • Create/edit content for multiple communications mediums such as website, e-newsletter, social media, press releases, and periodic reports
  • Create audio and video content from Teach For Nepal Fellows’ classrooms
  • Work with graphic designer/media agency to produce high quality materials
  • Produce and/or work with relevant professionals to produce short documentary videos highlighting Fellows’ work
  • Keep TFN’s website and social media platforms vibrant and current
  • Cultivate and manage strong relations with the media and press
  • Work with TFN Fellows to create content and publish regularly on internet and print mediums
  • Provide support and feedback to the Fellows and staff on their written communications
  • Work with teams within TFN to produce materials that strategically support short-term and long-term goals of the teams
  • For all marketing and communications activities create and track tangible measures of success

Candidate Requirements:

  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree preferred in Communications, Marketing and related field
  • Three years of full-time experience in communication role, preferably in non-profit sector
  • Strong written communication skills in both Nepali and English preferred
  • Detail oriented with excellent editing/proofreading skills. Ability to produce error-free work
  • Willing to travel within Nepal. This position requires frequent visit to Fellows’ schools in rural Nepal
  • Strong computer competency required. Skills in HTML, WordPress, print & graphic design software preferred
  • Ability to work in team
  • Ability to take photos and videos, including editing skill, preferred
  • Experience in developing partnership and networking
  • Flexible approach to working hours.
  • Pragmatic, sociable, reflective, and highly energetic

Location: The position is based in Kathmandu valley with occasional visits to placement schools
Salary: Based on Teach for Nepal policies
Duration: 1 Year (Renewal will depend on availability of funding)

  • You will be required to make a presentation to the hiring panel which will typically focus on the technical competencies described in the vacancy
  • After the presentation you will be tested on your writing skills
  • If you are successful at this stage you will receive an invitation for an interview, which usually takes place at TFN House Interviews can follow the competency-based format, in which you are asked to describe a relevant concrete examples drawn from your personal work experience
  • Interviews may also include motivational questions, as well technical questions
